Although the preferred work of the Legion of Mary is visiting homes, members also perform other spiritual outreach activities. These activities enable and encourage parishioners, as well as non-parishioners living within the parish boundaries to enrich their Catholic faith.
The St. Michael’s unit of the Legion (a Praesidium) is proud to be a part of the Church’s largest layman’s organization, founded in 1921.
Members seek out lapsed Catholics and encourage them to return to the church; encourage families to ensure that children receive a Christian education and receive the sacraments, and locate sick parishioners and shut-ins who need visitation or the sacraments.
Members also get involved in Parish Religious Education programs, visit the sick in convalescent homes and hospitals and visit prisoners in jail.
For additional information, or to join this group, interested persons may contact the coordinator, Matt Winston, at 257-2857 or call the parish office at 257-2850, stmichaelcv@yahoo.com

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION (PEA) In December 1999, St. Michael’s opened a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, adjacent to the main church body.
The chapel operates on an open hours schedule, excluding Mass hours.
Approximately 130 parishioners provide coverage for the 156 available hours. Persons interested in participating in this devotion are encouraged to contact the program coordinators, Marcella Birckhead, 257-2051; Shirley Heuser, 856-2543; or Anne Kootz, 856-4543 to enroll and fill schedule vacancies.
This devotion offers the opportunity for private, personal and quiet worship.
The PEA chapels developed on a parish level from a grass roots movement in the mid-1980’s.
In 1991, Pope John Paul II began perpetual adoration of the Eucharist in St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome. During the same year, he also approved the canonical establishment of the lay association for perpetual Eucharistic adoration to promote adoration in every Catholic parish throughout the world.
